Information Report About Axolotl

The last three weeks we were lerning to write information report about an animal.   The first time that we did it we were allowed to do it on any animal but we had to do it on paper because the internet was not working.    The second time we did it about a cheetah, the third time that we did it we had to do a wolf.  And then the last time we did an Axolotl.

Here is my Axolotl information report.

Axolotl are not the best looking animal but they are very interesting.  I'm am going to be talking about what they eat/habitat, looks, movement and other facts.

Axolotls have something called a slime coat, this helps to protect their skin.   They come in many different types of colours like black, white, pale pink and gray.  They have six gills on the top of their head. Their gills look a little like makeup brushes.  There are small little spots on their faces.   Axolotl have a tail like a tadpole and they have teeth in their upper and lower jaw.

Axolotl are carnivores, that means that they only eat meat. They like to eat a variety of food.  The food that they most like to eat is worms, sea snails, small fish and small animals.    You can keep Axolotl as pets and you would keep them in a tank or you could find them in lakes just outside of Mexico.

Axolotl can glide a bit like a snake.  When they swim it looks a little like they are walking but just in the water. Another of their tricks is to lie at the top of their tank and just act dead.

They can grow up 10/15 inches.  If an Axolotl gets one of its body parts bitten off then they can grow it back.  An Axolotl is also known as a Walking Fish in Mexico.  They are critically endangered, that means that they are very at risk.  Some Axolotl glow under water if a blue light is shining on it.   If you touch an Axolotl it will burn it.

My favorite fact about Axolotl is that they can grow back body parts if they lose them. I like that fact because it is the most interesting.   It is sad that they are in danger. There are only about 700 to 1,200 left in the wild.

 Hope you liked it.
